Teacher Certification/CEU Requirements

Teachers with the Professional Educator Certificate seeking CEUs for state certification requirements should note that academic credit courses do not automatically convert to the CEUs required for continuation of the teaching certificate.

• A teacher wishing to use an undergraduate credit course toward the CEU requirements should make arrangements for "CEU Equivalent Credit" for the course via his or her own employing board of education before taking the academic credit course.
  
  
• Graduate credit courses completed successfully (as evidenced by an official University of Connecticut transcript) may be used for the purpose of continuing the Professional Educator Certificate. One graduate credit represents 15 contact hours (3 graduate credits equal 45 contact hours). No prior arrangements with the employing board of education are necessary.
