Frequently Asked Questions

What is a certificate program and how will it help me?

A certificate program is designed to give intense, hands on application of the subject matter. It exposes the student to specialized subject matter and prepares them with sufficient knowledge to begin a career in that field. This is an approach that most working adults choose because it is quick and gives them exactly what they need without taking a multitude of classes that a degree program requires. Displaced workers, people unhappy in a current career or no career at all are best suited to benefit by this type of program.

Does the certificate program qualify me for a job as a paralegal?

Yes, successful completion of the program enables you to apply for a position as a paralegal.

Is the course approved by the American Bar Association ( ABA)?

The American Bar Association in general, requires a minimum of 900 classroom hours to be awarded approval. This is generally sought by two- and four-year degree-seeking programs. The University of Connecticut's Paralegal course does not fit this criteria, nor was it intended to. The University of Connecticut is a provider of IACET (International Association for Continuing Education and Training).
