Facing Change 2011: Managing in a Challenging Environment is a time for you to work with fellow Connecticut executive directors in strategizing how to adapt your organization to the current stressed environment. Only by adapting to the dramatically changed environment will nonprofit organizations ensure that their missions remain vibrant and viable into the future.
You work in a tumultuous climate. Facing Change is a four-day learning experience that includes skill building in areas critical to managing change, peer to peer learning, and intentional networking with other Connecticut nonprofit executive directors. This retreat provides time for you to consider, with peer guidance and feedback, the change processes you need to lead in order to strengthen your organization to ensure the survival of your mission beyond the current economic challenges.
This year’s retreat is organized to support skill and knowledge development in three critical areas: (1) enhancing your ability to lead and implement change in a time of scarce resources and difficult choices; (2) communicating rationales for change to your stakeholders—from staff, board to funders; and (3) implementing strategic alliances.
- Day One-Leadership and Planning in Times of Scarce Resources
- Day Two-Effectively Communicating in Times of Change
- Day Three-Building Strategic Alliances in Stressed Environments
- Day Four-(Three Months Later)Assessment, Adjustment, Outcomes and Moving Forward
This year’s retreat will be held on the University of Connecticut Storrs campus, presented in conjunction with our partner, the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits. The retreat will be led by Jane Arsenault and Anne Yurasek, MBA of FIO Partners and David Garvey of the UConn Nonprofit Leadership Program. Priya Morganstern of Pro Bono Partnership will be joining us for the November 4th outcome session.
