Encore!Hartford Personal and Host Applications
Candidates will be chosen by the UConn Nonprofit Leadership Program Staff, with support from CTWorks. In addition to the essay, resume and interview, the candidate years of appropriate work experience and professional level will play a strong role in selection of Encore!Hartford Fellows. Preference will be given to seasoned professionals with sincere motivation to apply their skills in the nonprofit sector. In addition, the match of candidate skill-sets with identified needs of Encore Host nonprofits will be taken into consideration.
All candidates will be notified of acceptance decisions by February 10, 2012.
The application process serves three purposes:
- Engages prospective participants in reflection upon their leadership experience in mission-driven contexts—either in a for-profit or nonprofit setting—and begins the cognitive process of mapping their career transition to nonprofit leadership.
- Draws out both the concrete outcomes of the applicant's past managerial, leadership and professional experience as well as the transferrable skill-set capacity that can be strengthened and honed by the Encore!Hartford program curriculum and fellowship experience.
- Provides a vetting process for assessing individuals who have the most potential for successful transfer of their skills to the nonprofit sector and their ability to work in a nonprofit environment.
Please Note: As you write your essay and resume consider how your skill-sets can transfer to nonprofit work. Consider applicable experiences you have had in business development, communications, facilities planning, financial planning and management, human resources, information technology, legal and risk management, marketing, team management and staff development, project management, research and evaluation, sales, strategic planning, program organization and implementation, and others.
