| Liz Sheridan - Seasoned corporate trainer and project manager seeks to impact the work of a Connecticut nonprofit. Resume (pdf) |
I have always wanted to contribute more time and energy to society but family responsibilities kept me working in the corporate sector. I am now at a point where I can turn to finding an opportunity in the non-profit sector where I hope to find an opportunity to apply 30 years of project management, facilitation, training and disaster recovery/business continuity experience to more directly benefit society.
I offer 30 years of meeting the organizational challenges of the financial services industry and I wish take a new path to use my project management and training skills to help a Connecticut nonprofit organization. At various times in my career I have also used my facilitation skills to help groups quickly and productively achieve goals such as solving a business problem or developing a product such as a mission statement. I have volunteered in various roles with a focus on enabling people to acquire the skills they need to achieve their life goals. Key examples are teaching ESL to Bosnian refugees and mentoring inner city high school girls to help them complete high school and go through the process of selecting, getting financial aid, and going to college. |

Abraham J. Siegel, Esq. - 14 year attorney seeks a social-purpose legal and/or business leadership role in the nonprofit sector that supports and encourages strategic planning to create better integrated service delivery networks. Resume (pdf) |
| What I seek to do: In recognizing that collaborations with nonprofits have become an essential strategy for increasing government efficiency, reducing costs and for improving services for citizens, I seek a leadership position with a nonprofit organization to bring my experience in negotiating and strategic relationship building skills. It is essential to realize that without trust between the leaders of organizations, the challenges to create integrated delivery service networks are insurmountable. I seek to apply my experience in the area of health care, education, housing, animal welfare or social services. |
| What I have to offer:
My seasoned professional strategic relationship building and negotiation skills have served me well throughout my career and will transfer into the nonprofit sector. I offer my strength in bridging organizations to act toward combining resources, which is imperative for long-term success in a climate where the need for services have increased and funding is challenging. As an attorney, I also have strong advocacy and creative problem solving skills, and sharp analytical abilities. To help those in need, listening is paramount in delivering sound solutions; results based strategy plans, action and change. People have different styles of communication, come from different cultures, and have different ways of getting their point across, but I have successfully dealt with these differences sensitively and with the acumen to achieve the objectives of the organization for which I was working at the time. I know that I can successfully bring these skills to the nonprofit world. |

Robert Stern - Encore! Assignment: Videographer and Storyteller for the Hartford Ballet.
HIRED: Owner and Photographer / Videographer, Focus Nonprofits (continuing job search) Resume (pdf) |
| What I seek to do:
I became a photojournalist because I wanted to change the world and believed that my photography could be a hammer as well as a mirror for the betterment of society. It’s no surprise that many of my most inspiring images grew out of working with charitable organizations and nonprofits.
Focus Nonprofits, a multi-media communications service, was inspired directly by my participation in the Encore!Hartford Fellowship program. Our motto is: Tell Your Story—Propel Your Mission. With Focus Nonprofits I’m committing the unique skills I’ve developed over 30 years as a professional journalist to the goal of helping to promote organizations working toward the greater good. |
| What I have to offer:
I am a non-fiction storyteller. As a creative communications professional my entire adult life, I’ve touched the lives of countless people with my work. The media has changed, but the stories of committed people working to help others endure. The impact of a single, insightful photograph or poignant moment in a video timeline is as powerful as ever. A skilled writer, with a thorough understanding of print and visual communications, I’m adept at working under strict budget constraints and tight deadlines. My intention is to capitalize on my ability to portray worthy organizations in the best possible light to positively impact their fundraising efforts and facilitate their missions. |
I produced a video for The Connecticut Ballet to use as the centerpiece of the organization’s 30th Anniversary Initiative. The concept was to show how the Connecticut Ballet has touched hearts and minds for three decades, with exceptional performances and inspired educational outreach programs. The video combined new interviews with older stills and video footage to paint a
portrait of a developing organization that is a treasure within our community. |
