Welcome,

austinThe work of Connecticut’s nonprofit organizations is crucial to creating a strong social fabric and better quality of life within Connecticut’s communities. On behalf of the University of Connecticut, Connecticut Council for Philanthropy and the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits, I am pleased to welcome you to the State of the Connecticut Nonprofit Sector 2004 Symposium.

Connecticut has some tough challenges and wonderful opportunities ahead. No single sector of society has all the answers or resources to move Connecticut forward. As the State moves ahead, it must do so in a spirit of close collaboration among Connecticut’s educational, nonprofit, business and government sectors.

This symposium provides an opportunity for Connecticut leaders from all walks of life to gather together, assess the conditions of Connecticut’s nonprofit sector, identify limitations and strengths, and discuss collaborative strategies for reaching our common goals.

The University of Connecticut is pleased to be part of this valuable work.
I thank the UConn Center for Continuing Studies, our nonprofit partners, the symposium’s planning committee and you for starting this process.

Sincerely,

Philip Austin
President
