Certificate in General Insurance (INS) Courses

INS 21 – Property and Liability Insurance Principles
This course will give the student an overview of the insurance business as well as an understanding of the basic principles of property and liability insurance. The course covers the major areas of Insurance operations: Marketing, Underwriting and Claims and also analyzes property and liability loss exposures.

INS 22 – Personal Insurance
In this course, the student analyzes personal loss exposures and property-liability insurance including automobile, homeowners and other dwelling coverages, personal liability and inland marine. Ins 22 also examines life, health and disability insurance and personal financial planning.

INS 23 – Commercial Insurance
This course discusses the following commercial insurance coverages in depth: commercial property, commercial general liability, business income, inland and ocean marine, commercial crime, equipment breakdown, commercial auto, business owners and farm, workers compensation and employers liability. The course also provides overviews of the following topics: excess and umbrella liability, professional liability, management liability, aircraft insurance, coverage for foreign operations, and surety bonds.

INS Certificate holders can earn the Associate in Insurance Services (AIS) designation by completing one additional course, AIS 25 - Delivering Insurance Services.
