The Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Professional Designation (CPCU Program)

This in-depth, professional insurance education program is designed for experienced insurance practitioners. CPCU Program courses build on a foundation of risk management techniques and analysis of insurance contracts.

Students learn:

  • to apply insurance and risk management principles to personal and commercial loss exposures,
  • to analyze insurance policies for all lines of business,
  • to examine the operational functions performed by insurers and
  • the effects of insurance on economic, legal, and social environments.

All UConn CPCU Program courses have been updated according to the AICPCU Program’s recent curriculum changes.

All CPCU Program candidates must pass eight national examinations: 5 core courses plus three additional exminations in either a commercial lines or personal lines track.
