Robert Bruen currently runs his own startup company, Cold Rain, supporting open source. His expertise are in computer and network security, open source, and Linux. He has held various technology management positions at MIT and worked for Perkin Elmer Computer Division and Acrcon, Inc. In addition, he has held full time faculty positions at Springfield Technical Community College, Merrimack College, and Babson College. He has also taught for Empire State College OnLine, Marlboro College, and Suffolk University.

He holds a Ph.D. in Education from Boston College, a Master of Liberal Arts in History of Science from Harvard, a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion from Northeastern University.
