Grading System: Course Grades and Grade Points
Instructors are required to file with the University Registrar grades for all courses a student takes for academic credit. While instructors are fee to set the standard of performance they expect in their courses, a uniform scale is published to encourage general agreement on the meaning of grades.
Letter grades with a numeric value are given for all courses at the University of Connecticut. They are:
A |
= |
4.0 |
A- |

3.7 |
B+ |

3.3 |
B |

A grade of A+ with a value of 4.3 is possible in graduate level courses only. A, B, C and D are passing grades. In graduate courses, the marks of S for Satisfactory and U for Unsatisfactory may be given in place of letter grades in selected courses.
