Intersession provides students with an ideal opportunity to complete
a course during the extended winter break. Taking a course during
Winter Intersession – without the heavy course load required
during the fall or spring semester – helps students to narrow
their focus and concentrate on a particular area or subject. Many
UConn students have discovered the advantages of advancing their
academic careers during the break between the fall and spring semester.
In fact, more than 900 students enrolled in 63 courses offered at
all six campuses in Winter Intersession 2002.
Completing a course during winter break helps students balance
their coursework throughout the academic year. Winter Intersession
classes can be a great way to keep on track for graduation and pick
up a needed course to fulfill degree requirements. Undergraduate
courses are scheduled at conveniently located campuses in Avery
Point, Hartford, Stamford, Storrs, Torrington and Waterbury.
Students do not have to be formally matriculated at UConn to enroll
in Winter Intersession courses. Access UConn, the non-degree study
program, allows students to earn academic credits without being
formally admitted to a UConn degree program. Students from other
colleges and universities can also enroll in Winter Intersession
courses and transfer the credit to their own institution.
Winter Intersession runs from January 2 through January 17, 2003.
Students can choose from morning, afternoon, and evening classes.
Scheduled in an intensive format, each class meets daily from Monday
through Friday for 3.5 hours.
