| "445%
increase from fall 2001"
CCS has experienced a tremendous
growth in its online enrollment, with 165 registrations in fall
2002. This is a 445 percent increase from fall 2001, and a significant
increase from last year, when the combined enrollment for fall,
spring, and summer semester peaked at 137. Our Distance Education
offerings continue to attract adult learners from 16 states, as
well as Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and England.
The Distance Education program began in spring 2001 with the introduction
of the Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health program,
which was developed for an online format under the direction of
Dr. Charles Reese. That program, which includes undergraduate and
graduate courses, has a current enrollment of 88 students. In spring
2002, CCS launched a graduate program in Humanitarian Studies, which
is under the direction of Dr. Rodney Allen. There are currently
nine students enrolled in that program.
Sixty-four students are enrolled in Information Technology, our
newest undergraduate program. Information Technology was launched
in fall 2002 under the direction of Dr. Andrew DePalma. Dr. Dennis
Lee is developing an online graduate program in Human Resource Management,
which will begin in spring 2003.
The growing popularity of the CCS Distance Education program is
a direct result of the quality of the offerings and the wealth of
advantages online learning has for adult learners. For further information
