Mission and Expertise

Mission

The University of Connecticut’s Center for Continuing Studies (CCS) extends the intellectual capital and academic resources of New England’s top-ranked public university throughout the state and beyond. In collaboration with the University community, the Center designs, plans, and manages credit and non-credit educational and outreach programs appropriate to the University’s land grant mission of fostering engaged scholarship.

Core Expertise

The Center for Continuing Studies provides University of Connecticut faculty and administrators with:

Market Research
Market research and planning expertise needed to identify demand, viability, and strategies for sustainability of new degree and certificate programs in Connecticut’s and the world’s corporate, government, and nonprofit markets.

Advertising and Promotion
Complete advertising and promotion services, with professional designers and public relations specialists who write, design, and place advertising and promotions tailored to reach targeted learners.

Program Development and Management
Program development and management services, which include academic partnership development; business and fiscal planning; customer relationship management; community outreach; and the planning, coordination and management of special programs.

Online Education Design
Instructional design and Web course development for the delivery of quality online programs for the nontraditional student. Coordination of support services is also provided for the distance learner, including online orientation and technical support.

Administrative Services
Customized administrative services for the students and academic partners of emerging programs, including services such as special handling registration, revenue and expense management and reporting.
