Copyright Agreement for Development of Online Courses for Full-Time UConn FacultyThe faculty member developing an online course retains the intellectual property rights to the content of the online courses, but the courses are owned by the University. The faculty member has the right of first refusal to teach the course whenever it is scheduled by the Department. If the faculty member is unable to teach the course as scheduled, the Department Head has the right to find a suitable substitute for the online delivery of the course for the semester in question. If content developed by the faculty member contains new thoughts or materials, such as personal research, those materials may be removed from the course if a faculty member other than the original developer teaches it. “New thoughts” does not include a reiteration, summary, or synthesis of what is already written or published by other authors. Graduate courses will be more dependent upon individual faculty presentation of their own creative work than undergraduate introductory courses. March 2004 |
