Workshops
Raku Workshop
This workshop is for students with basic clay skills or those currently enrolled in Wheel I, II or Youth Wheel. Raku is the process of firing clay to 1800 degrees, removing it while red-hot and plunging the pot into a bed of combustibles to produce a variety of efffects, from luminescent color to crackle glazes. Students will make, glaze and fire their pots in this exciting workshop. Three classes; call 860-486-1073 for workshop schedule and details. Instructor: Susan Gerr. Classes for Adults
Pottery I
No experience necessary! Learn to make forms on the wheel including cups, bowls and closed forms as well as hand-building and texture techniques. Weekly demonstrations on a variety of techniques including lids, spouts and handles. Students have access to Monitored Studio Hours for practice time. For beginners. Meets for twelve Tuesdays. Pottery II
Designed for intermediate students with at least 1 year of wheel experience. Explore more advanced pottery techniques, creating tall, closed, combined and altered forms. Demonstrations available weekly. Students will have access to Monitored Studio Hours for practice time. Meets for twelve Mondays. Schedule #AB1121
Drawing and Painting Studio
Students will work in charcoal, pasel, watercolors or acrylic, working from nature, the figure and memory. We will investigate classic and contemporary artists. Students are encouraged to experiment freely within various medium, and will be expected to practice skills and techniques outside of class. Meets for eight Mondays. Instructor: Shauna Shane.

Private and Semi-Private Pottery Lessons
60-minute lessons are available and must be scheduled by calling the office at 860-486-1073. Private: $46.50 per lesson; Semi-Private (2-3 students): $32 per person
Monitored Studio Hours (Bench Time)
Monitored access to the Community School of the Arts Pottery Studio is available FREE OF CHARGE for current students on a regular schedule to practice skills and finish class work. Call 860-486-1073 for the schedule.
