Summer School of the Arts:
Weekly Arts Workshops
For older students and teens! These are intensive programs where students entering grades 5-11 spend full days immersed in activities with like-minded peers, guest artists and CSA faculty. Students will learn the intricacies of a medium through hands-on experience that encourages fluency of skills and ideas, flexibility and uniqueness.
This year, explore the worlds of pottery, jewelry making, drawing and painting, as well as a new alternative-arts offering:
Drawing & 2D Media Workshop
For students entering grades 5-11
Students will focus on drawing and painting using a broad range of media, including charcoal, graphite, watercolor and pastels. Emphasis will be placed on the development of each student's expression, style and artistic vocabulary. Students will paint on the UConn Campus at farms, museums and at CSA. Different projects and trips each session.

Wheel Workshop
For students entering grades 5-11
Explore clay through a variety of forming, glazing and decorative techniques. Days will be split between wheel work and handbuilding techniques. Students will create both functional (cups, bowls, plates) and sculptural forms.

Jewelry Workshop
For students entering grades 5-11
Students will split their days between jewelry creation and assembly techniques, exploring fused glass and copper enamel, as well as stringing and bead weaving techniques. Students will use quality materials to create unique and complex pieces.

Alternative-Arts Workshop
For students entering grades 5-11
Curious art for life and fun. Students will create zines (student publications), Japanese craft, and illustration. Students will trade copies of zine publications at the end of the week.
