Treblemakers Choral Program
The University of Connecticut Treblemakers
Choral Program, founded by Dr. Mary Ellen Junda,
is Eastern Connecticut's
premiere children's choir program. The goal of the program is for children to experience the joy of accurately and artistically singing the standard folk and choral repertory for treble voices. Music skills are developed through a sequential vocal development and music reading curriculum.
Treblemakers consists of three
groups:
Treblemakers has performed for former President Clinton and other
dignitaries, music educators and choral directors at state conferences,
and thousands of children in the public schools. Treblemakers has
recorded for the Silver Burdett Ginn Making Music K-8 basal music
series and released two of its own recordings: Singing with Treblemakers:
Songs for Young Singers (1998 Parent's Choice Gold Award) and Singing
with Treblemakers: Our Favorite Folk Songs.
The upper choir (Treblemakers, grades 5-9) is available by audition only. Auditions are held in late August/early September. Tiny Trebles and Junior Trebles are open to all, however a vocal hearing is recommended for new Junior Trebles students before the first rehearsal.
