Musical Theater
The Community
School of the Arts offers musical theater programs
for all
ages. Our adult program includes
a full-scale operetta staged each summer at the University of Connecticut’s
von der Mehden recital hall.
Youth Program
Musical Theater (ages 8-11)
Discover the exciting drama of musical theater composed by the Broadway masters of yesterday and today through performing. Classes focus on building skills for musical theater, such as voice production and projections, basic acting and movement, improvisation and stage presence. An
informal revue will take place on the last day of class. Meets on Thursdays. Schedule #AM1081
Adult Program
Gilbert & Sullivan Workshop

Each summer the G&S Workshop singers, actors and crew perform
one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s classic operettas, fully
staged at von der Mehden recital hall before near-sellout audiences
in August.
Rehearsals begin in May or June, and auditions for lead roles are
held in late April and early May. Call the Community School of
the Arts for more details about next summer’s production.
