JOY! Conservatory

Beginning in the Fall of 2009, CSA will partner with the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts in offering a new program initiative for Storrs area youth.

The JOY! Conservatory (Jorgensen Outreach for Youth) is a pre-college music program which provides applied music instruction combined with academic courses in music theory, harmony, history, and chamber music coaching and performances. The initial year of the JOY! Conservatory program is open to high school and advanced middle school string students with demonstrated interest and skill. Significant financial assistance is available for students who qualify for the conservatory program.

Students enrolled in the JOY! Conservatory will attend a weekly lesson on their primary instrument, weekly music theory and history classes, and will be coached in a chamber music ensemble by our professional faculty. Students will enjoy free and reduced price tickets to selected Jorgensen events and concerts.

Students interested in auditioning and applying for the JOY! Conservatory Program should contact the Community School of the Arts, at 860-486-1073, for more information on the program and application process.
