Summer
Programs
Each summer,
in addition to continued private music study, hundreds of Community School
of the Arts students participate in CSA-sponsored
Summer School of the Arts workshops, Group Classes, and Summer Events.
These provide a
concentrated experience where students learn, bond, and form new
ideas and interests. Don’t miss out on CSA’s lively
summer programming schedule.
Private
Music Lessons Private lessons are offered on all instruments
and voice. We welcome beginners, intermediate, and advanced
students of all ages.
Become an Arts Explorer
Using fables, stories, and actual accounts, we will investigate the experiences of travelers and explorers. In this hands-on art camp, students will make beautiful and exciting, interactive art objects and discover their unique artistic talents and creativity. Students will design and create their own puppets, pottery, paintings, drawings, outdoor creations, and much more. And, as always, new inventive projects appropriate for CSA veterans and novices alike.
Weekly Arts Workshops Pottery, jewelry, drawing and painting, and alternative-arts workshops for older students and teens, designed to excite students and challenge their creativity.
Visual Arts Classes (for Children and Families, and Adults) This summer there are pottery classes for children and families, along with a handbuilding class for adults, as well as private and semi-private pottery lessons offered for teens and adults.
Jazz Workshop Don’t
miss this opportunity to stretch your technique and musical
knowledge! This workshop, for students entering grades 7-10, will include interactive performances
by professional musicians, workshops and classes on performance skills and more.
Performing Arts Workshop Join other students, entering grades 5-9, and participate in a student driven performance that involves expressive arts, movement and music.
Gilbert
& Sullivan Operetta Every summer the Community
School of the Arts invites members from the community to participate
in producing a full length opera by Gilbert & Sullivan.
SCIENCE
in the morning, ARTS in the afternoon! Spend
the whole day at UCONN this summer! CSA Summer School of the Arts offers some programs coordinated with the morning programs offered by
UConn's Kids Are Scientists
Too (KAST) program. Shuttle buses
will
pick
up KAST participants
at the end of the morning science activities and transport them
to CSA's
home at the Depot Campus 5 minutes away. For KAST details, visit
the
website at www.KAST.uconn.edu.
