The Week of Jazz "Boot Camp" is designed for students entering grades 7-10, who wish to gain more experience in jazz improvisation, style and technique. This intensive week-long workshop will challenge young jazz musicians to grow musically and to improve their skill on their instrument and at improvising.
Students should have at least two years experience playing their instrument. Prior experience in a jazz ensemble is helpful, but not required. Students will work with CSA jazz faculty and guest teaching artists in both classroom and applied small combo settings. The primary focus of the week will be improvisation in a jazz combo.
