In partnership with UConn's Jazz Studies program, this intensive week-long workshop will challenge young jazz musicians to grow musically and to improve their skills on their instrument and at improvising. The Week of Jazz is intended for intermediate to advanced students entering 8th-12th grade, with experience in their school jazz program, and at least two years of study on their primary instrument.
The Week of Jazz will take place on the Storrs campus, in the Music Building, Drama-Music Building, and von der Mehden Recital Hall.
Students will work directly with UConn jazz faculty and guest teaching artists in both classroom and applied small combo settings. The primary focus of the week will be improvisation in a jazz combo. A typical day will include:

- Master class by guest teaching artist
- Performance class with jazz faculty
There will be evening performances of local jazz talent scheduled throughout the week, which will be open to all workshop participants and their families.
The week will culminate in a Friday afternoon performance by the student ensembles in von der Mehden Recital Hall on the Storrs campus.
