Early
Childhood Music Program
The Early Childhood Music Program at CSA provides a musical culture where children and their families create meaningful musical experiences. Through singing, movement, instrumental exploration, games, and creative musical play, babies, toddlers and preschoolers will experience a great variety of musical styles and genres, as well as develop their sensory awareness, language, motor, cognitive and social skills. Our goal is to foster a passion for music, even from the earliest ages.
The program includes:
Music for the Young (ages 18 months-3 years, with parent)
Children (and parents!) will develop vocal, movement and rhythmic skills through a repertoire of singing songs, chants, nursery rhymes, instrumental play, movement activities, and singing games. Meets for 12 classes.
Wednesdays: Schedule # AE1011;
Saturdays: Schedule # AE1012
Music Time (ages 3 & 4)
This 45-minute class is designed for children without parental participation in order to encourage children to become more independent music makers, and is based on the musical foundations of listening, singing, moving, creating and playing instruments. Musical experiences include vocal exploration, circle games, expressive movement, rhythmic speech and instrument play. Meets for 12 classes.
Wednesdays: Schedule # AE1031;
Saturdays: Schedule # AE1032
Xyloband (ages 4 & 5)
Designed to promote early music literacy, students will explore instrumental playing and sound using xylophones and drums as their primary instruments. Throughout the semester, the Xyloband members will experience a variety of instruments, play rhythmic patterns and melodies, self-accompany their own singing, and explore the concepts of high and low, soft and loud, and fast and slow through a variety of sounds and instrumentation. Meets for 12 Saturdays.
