Internship Guidelines
The Bachelor of General Studies Internship (GS 296) allows you the opportunity to relate theory learned in the classroom to practical experience gained through working in the field. Credits An Internship meets University of Connecticut and Upper-Division (200-level) credit requirements and can be embarked on after completion of one semester in the program. Generally students earn three credits for an internship experience; but as few as one and as many as six credits can be requested and awarded based on time spent in the field.
Supervision You will identify a field experience appropriate to your educational and career goals, and will choose an On-Site Supervisor agreeable to the terms of the proposed project synopsis. You will also designate an appropriate Faculty Supervisor who will serve as the link with theoretical issues and who decides the criteria for evaluation. Proposals require the signed approval of the Faculty Supervisor, the Advisor, and the Program Director.
