Refunds
 
Refunds will be determined by the transmission date and time of fax, online or email notifications, and by the postal cancellation date or verified sending date for mail or express delivery service notifications. Processing a refund may take up to four weeks once it is approved.
Refunds for Credit Classes
Non-degree, BGS and MPS Students
  • While individual instructors may require class attendance and indeed use it for determining part of a grade, the University has no general policy that requires or mandates that students must attend classes in the courses for which they are registered. Accordingly, non-attendance in class ordinarily is not sufficient reason to request an exception to the published policy.

  • Students who paid by Master Card, American Express, VISA, Discover or Diners International will receive a credit on their account.
The refund schedule below applies to credit course fees when a student cancels a registration or drops a class. It also applies to the semester dates and not to the actual meeting hours of a particular class.
Refund Schedule for Credit Course Fees

Before first day of semester and weeks one and two. (January 31st)

100% refund of course fees less $45 service charge

100% of difference between original course fees and fees of semester due for remaining credits

Weeks three and four of semester.  (February 1st - 14th) 50% refund of course fees No refund
Weeks five, six, seven and eight of semester.  (February 15th - March 14th) 25% refund of course fees No refund

Week nine of semester and beyond.  (March 15th - April 30th)

No refund

Refunds of Other Fees
Course/Lab Fees:  These fees are non-refundable
Infrastructure Fee
: Refunded at the same percentage as the course fees.
Transit Fee: Refunded at the same percentage as the course fees. (Storrs only)
Late Fee: Not refundable.

Refunds for Winter Intersession Classes
Winter Intersession Course Fee Refund Schedule

A full refund will be issued if a class is dropped on or before the second day of classes.  (December30th)

A 50% refund will be issued if a class is dropped on the third or fourth day of classes.  (December 31st - January 1st)

There will be no refund for a class dropped after the fourth day of classes. (Received after January 1st)
